How to check yesterday’s weather by ZIP code or city

Start with a place, then confirm the match

1. Enter a five-digit ZIP code, or type a city with its state when the name could be ambiguous.
2. Choose the intended locality from the matches shown.
3. Select Yesterday or another date within the recent 30-day window.
4. Confirm the result’s place, station, straight-line distance and local date.
5. Review temperature samples, wind, available rain evidence and observation gaps.

ZIP+4 entries use the base five-digit code. YesterSky currently covers the 50 states and DC; military, unlocated, conflicting or distant locations may not resolve to suitable observations.

A ZIP code or city identifies a reference place, not your address

The lookup uses a locality reference point and does not request GPS access or a street address. A successful match can try up to three reporting stations within 50 km and keeps the first one with usable observations for the selected date.

The displayed distance is straight-line distance from the selected locality reference point to the station. It is not the distance from your device, home or worksite, and the chosen station is described as nearby rather than guaranteed to be the nearest instrument.

If a station lies across a time-zone boundary, YesterSky still uses the searched place’s local day. That keeps “yesterday” tied to the place you selected instead of silently changing dates to match the airport.

YesterSky summarizes public METAR observations supplied by NOAA’s Aviation Weather Center. It can help you see what a nearby station reported for temperature, wind and available precipitation evidence on a recent date.

It does not provide a forecast, property-level measurement, certified weather record or long-term climate archive. The low and high are sampled readings rather than official daily extremes. Rain periods can overlap, and missing rain is not converted to zero. Review the full source, station and local-date methodology before relying on a close call.
